The Christmas season is quickly approaching, and for a broke college student, this can cause some unnecessary stress. However, do not worry, because we have some DIY holiday gifts and décor that will have your friends AND your bank account thanking you this Christmas!

DIY Peppermint Sugar Body Scrub
What you need:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tsp rosehip or almond oil (optional)
  • 8-10 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 1 drop green or red food coloring
  1. Simply pour all ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined.
  2. Store in a Mason jar with a tight fitting lid and keep in a dry place. Add a bow or some ribbon to give it some extra holiday flair!

DIY Snow Covered Pinecones
What you need

  • Pinecones
  • Glue
  • Fake snow (can be found at craft stores, white glitter also works
  • 2 paper plates
  1. On one paper plate, pour out a generous amount of glue. On the second paper plate, pour out the fake snow.
  2. Dip a pinecone into the glue in desired spots for the “snow.” -Then dip into the fake snow/glitter and roll it around to cover the pinecone.
  3. Simply repeat this for all of the pinecones and allow them to dry.

DIY Hot Cocoa in a Jar
What you need:

  • Mason jar
  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Crushed candy canes
  • Ribbon
  1. Simply fill the Mason jar up with hot cocoa mix.
  2. Then layer the mix with the mini marshmallows.
  3. Add the crushed candy canes to the top.
  4. Finally, secure the jar with the lid and add some Christmas ribbon!

DIY Coffee Filter Snowflakes
What you need:

  • White Coffee filters
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Mini clothespins
  1. Fold coffee filter in half, then in half again and cut out any pattern you like.
  2. Unfold when done to reveal a creative and unique snowflake!
  3. Hang twine up and clip the DIY snowflake to the twine with a clothespin.

DIY Snowman Donuts
What you need:

  • Individual packs of mini powdered donuts
  • Black paper
  • Black and orange sharpie
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
  1. Cut out snowman top hats from the black construction paper and use the glue gun to attach the hats to the pack of donuts.
  2. Take ribbon and tie a loose knot around the donuts.
  3. Draw eyes, a carrot nose and a smile on the donut package with the sharpies.

DIY Mini Christmas Tree
What you need:

  • Foam pointed cylinder (Christmas tree shape)
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue gun
  • Beads
  • Pipe cleaner
  1. Paint the foam pointed cylinder with the green paint and let it dry completely.
  2. Wrap pipe cleaner around the tree and glue it down.
  3. Take colorful beads and glue them down to look like ornaments.
