It was the fall of 1999 when Tim Griffin resigned from his role as a Senior Pastor to join Motor Racing Outreach. While with MRO he served as Vice President and Lead Chaplain to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. After 12 years of ministry in the world of motor-sports, Tim was led to GCU, accepting the position of University Pastor. During the summer of 2011, Tim was promoted to Vice President of Student Affairs. In this new role he assumed the duties of Dean of Students as well as the responsibilities of University Pastor. As Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, he oversee the offices of Spiritual Life, Career Services, Student Engagement, Residence Life, Housing, and Internships. He leads and supports a great team that is dedicated to the growth and wellbeing of the university. Tim works closely with each department to ensure a safer and more enjoyable college experience for all students in the areas of spiritual growth, university community building, housing, and career opportunities.

In his role as Campus Pastor, Tim also oversees GCU Chapel on Monday mornings and The Gathering on Tuesday evenings. Not to mention the Chapel course, UNV-115 – University Chapel. Tim also works closely with a variety of other departments to provide behavioral and emotional services which equip and support students on campus. Always willing to listen to the concerns of students and staff, he works closely with them to create a better university and work experience that defines their purpose to meet their goals personally and professionally. He does so by looking for opportunities to engage college students and working alongside student leaders who are committed to grow their impact in the world and make a difference in the lives of people they serve. From living on campus in the North Rim Apartments during his first year at GCU to attending almost all GCU activities, Tim has made an effort to stay connected and available to all students.
